It darkened the wood so ... WebI only do it on really messed up boards (no oil at all, was all gunky, really dry) and it helps the wood out a lot. You'd be just fine using mineral oil as well, I use Howard's lemon oil as it's mineral oil based from what I can tell. A little goes a very long way with both products, no need to douse the wood in oil or the feed n' wax.

I wouldn't use the beeswax/lemon oil stuff. 1 - Any kind of wax wll build up on your guitar, which doesn't help tone at all. 2 - Most lemon oil has silicone in it which you DO NOT want on your guitar. Wanting it to be a bit darker, I treated it with some Howard Feed N Wax, as someone recommended here. It’s super cheap off Amazon. Like $8. And this will last an eternity. It’s not messy.
